Claire Marie Stam is a Greenville native and served as Principal Harpist of the Carolina Youth Symphony for 8 years, with whom she performed at Carnegie Hall in 2001 and 2004. Claire has received multiple music scholarships, including the Crescent Music Club Lyndall Kane Scholarship, performed as a solo artist at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, and was a featured artist in the national magazine publication, “Harp Column”. She is an active member of the American Harp Society and plays professionally through her business, Upstate Harp, LLC and with local ensembles such as the Brevard Philharmonic and Poinsett Wind Symphony. She is a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner (CTHP) through the International Harp Therapy Program and provides therapeutic music for hospice and critically ill patients. Claire is a graduate of Furman University with a double major in Communication Studies and Spanish, and obtained her Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Public Administration and PhD in Educational Leadership from Clemson University.
She began learning the harp at age 8 and has been playing professionally in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia for over 24 years.
